Book Description:

An unusual young woman and fledgling journalist, Luna has various restrictive oddities, all of which prevent any kind of physical intimacy. Abusive parents take pleasure in Luna’s misery and isolation, yet Luna strives to make them proud, to finally earn their elusive love – something she craves almost as much as the painless touch of a lover.

When she learns of a tragic story involving the kidnap of baby Esta, she jumps at the chance to investigate, dragging her Shadows along for the ride within the murky depths of her mind.

Meanwhile, a dark stranger visits Luna’s dreams and stalks her reality. In lieu of the real thing, their intimate moments excite rather than terrify. Nestled within his presence, she begins to sense an urgent message of danger – a message she struggles to interpret, until they finally meet….

Her investigations lead Luna to a vibrant seaside town, hiding copycat aliens and an underworld of Supernaturals. Here, she comes face-to-face with her own, terrifying identity. Confronted with life-changing decisions and the harshest of truths, Luna questions her sanity, searching for logic, feeling deceived by both.

Is Luna trapped in a newfound supernatural world, or within her own delusions? And will anyone care enough to save her?

Excerpt:

At around seven years, after Ada, before Flo, Abby visited me for the first time. I'd been thinking about my crappy life, wide-awake, taking refuge in the moons silvery illumination of my room. A tad deep for a child perhaps, but think less existential crisis, more – 'it's a shame for me.' Anyway, I heard a knock at my bedroom window. How did he climb to my window? I neither knew nor cared. Surrounded by the dead 24/7, a boy at my window at night couldn't freak me out. Longing for intimacy and connection, I let him in without a moment's thought. Despite Ada's protection, the Shadows still scared me. But not Abby.

He appeared to be my age, and quite unwell. Moving fluidly and ethereal in some ways, human in others, he approached me. I backed away at first, fearing touch as usual. His emotions wrapped around me like a blanket until his serene beauty could mask his sorrow, no longer. My throat thickened with emotion.

I reached out without thinking. When his fingers met mine, it produced a minor tingle, nothing more. It didn't hurt, and I didn't have uncontrollable images storming about my young mind. Not quite flesh on flesh, nothing like the touch of Shadows either, more charged somehow My heart leapt at this minor miracle.

I fussed, "What's up?"

The sallow, sweating boy standing before me moved his lips, but no sound came out. He shook his head and rolled his eyes. He huffed, then smacked the bed. His icy cold aura intrigued me, as did unusually large, almond-shaped, midnight blue eyes, his long raven hair, his tears falling like diamonds to our feet, and his melancholy - oozing out like jam from a donut. The most beautiful, yet sorry sight I'd ever seen. Or remember seeing from that day on.

Author Bio:

In November of 2010, Shah found herself in Dubai, having moved from the UK for her husband’s new job. With no job or friends of her own, she had a lot of time on her hands and decided to take the advice of online friends she’d met through webook.com, and build her own blog. WordsinSync was born and was the catalyst in meeting fellow authors and bookworms galore. She moved on from writing poetry (two published) and short stories (one published) onto using her imagination to write novels. She has learned a lot on her adventure into stories and storytelling, mostly from the awesome advice of her online peer-group.

Her great loves are her patient husband and their German Shepherd, Bobby. Her passions are writing, reading, blogging, movies, photography, music, theatre, travel, and fine dining. Her qualifications include BSc (Hons) psychology, counselling, hypnotherapy and mentoring.

Genres of choice include anything dark with fangs and/or that will make her squirm, or jump, or scream out an expletive. She is an avid Kindle abuser and adores the indie writing community, and being part of the e-publishing revolution
